We will be offering two classes for kids ages 2-5 at the Second Chances Community Room in South Amherst.

Turning Pages: 6 Thursdays, July 9th – August 13th.
In this 45 minute class for kids aged 2-5, students will leap, twirl and spin their way into the world of children’s literature. Using picture books, nursery rhymes and songs as inspiration, children will be introduced to the fundamentals of creative movement in a fun, nurturing environment. Whether they’re soaring like the red bird that brown bear saw, leaping and pouncing at the Wild Rumpus, or dancing the alphabet, kids will love this interactive class that honors the reader, and storyteller, in all of us.

Two separate sessions will be offered:
Session 1 (ages 2-3, with caregivers): 10:00 – 10:45 AM
Session 2 (ages 4-5, with or without caregivers): 11:00 – 11:45 AM

Tuition: $100 (July 1st earlybird rate: $90). A 10% discount is available to concurrently enrolled siblings. Infant siblings under one year may attend (with caregiver) at no additional cost.

The Center marked the close of its spring session with a showcase of student choreography, a school wide demo warm-up and interactive dance activities (including one of our favorites — the “Dance MadLib”).

A joyful snowstorm blew through The Center during last week’s “Winter Share.” After demonstrating a typical warm-up and exploratory movement activities, dancers from all three classes performed an original dance inspired by Robert Frost’s “Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening” (as well as our collective experience of New England winter!).

We are deeply impressed by our students’ collaborative effort, both during this performance and throughout the semester. We are profoundly moved by the passion, insight and creativity they have brought to the work we’ve done together. And we are sincerely thankful to be a part of the community growing at The Center.
