Book & Bar(re) @ The Center

We take our Thursday nights with a twist.

Book and Bar(re)™: a combination of book club, dance party and cocktail hour. A short but robust modern dance warm up followed by light stretching, adult beverages (or tea!!) and low-stakes literary discussion. Each class culminates in a group improv inspired by the evening’s literary analysis. BYOBook, BYOBottle…We’ll provide the Barre.

Hilarity guaranteed.

Perch & Swoop – Trial Class August 30th!

Join us at The Center Dance Studio on Thursday, August 30th at 10AM for a FREE trial class of Perch & Swoop!

A once-weekly class for toddlers and their caregivers, Perch & Swoop offers the best of The Center’s Pre-K creative movement curriculum, bookended by art activities, a wholesome snack, and play time. 

Recommended for toddlers 18 months – 4 years (10% sibling discount available; siblings under 18 months may attend at no extra charge).

Fall ’18 Session:
Wednesdays, 10AM – 12PM (September 5th – October 24th)
Tuition is $195 for 8 weeks.

Story Ballet™ (45 minutes, ages 3-6) invites young dancers to explore the world of ballet through an imaginative lens. Using imagery and stories as inspiration, students will engage with the vocabulary and principles of classical ballet. Our interactive, developmentally appropriate class structure nurtures students’ enthusiasm for dance while cultivating focus and a growth mindset.

Family Yoga @ The Center

Family Yoga (45 minutes, ages 3-7) Find bliss on Saturday mornings with Family Yoga! Kids (and their caregivers!) will love this engaging introduction to an invaluable self-care practice. Using a beautiful collection of children’s books about the art of yoga, instructor Tiffany Joseph helps students develop self-awareness, strength, flexibility, and a sense of calm that will stay with them the whole weekend.

Garden of Verses™ (45 minutes, ages 2-3; caregivers attend) offers a gentle, joyful introduction to creative movement for toddlers and their caregivers. Using imagery, rhyme and song, children are guided through simple yet foundational movement patterns that promote kinesthetic awareness, coordination and focus. Storybook pages spring to life as children reimagine timeless classics and embody beloved characters; props, instruments and costumes enhance the magic. How hungry is your little caterpillar? Word Play at The Center!

Let’s hop, skip, and jump our way to spring! 

Word Play (45 minutes, ages 3-6) In this 45 minute class, students leap, prance and spin their way through the world of children’s literature. Using picture books, fairy tales and poetry, children are introduced to the fundamentals of creative movement and narrative dance. Whether they’re twirling down their own Purple Crayon path, pouncing at the Wild Rumpus, or dancing the alphabet, kids will love this interactive class that honors the reader, and storyteller, in all of us.

All Aboard!

There are 2 spots left in The Center’s Dance Around the World summer camp!

This summer, your child can dance around the world without boarding one plane. At The Center’s Dance Around the World summer program, kids will learn traditional and contemporary dance styles from across the globe. Each day will land us on a different continent, where we’ll explore the music, literature, art and cuisine from different countries. Be sure to pack a bathing suit!

  • Drop-off: 9:00 AM at The Center Dance Studio, 321 Main Street in Amherst, MA
  • Pick-up: 3:30 PM at The Center Dance Studio (4:30 PM late pick-up option available)
