Word Play at The Center!

Let’s hop, skip, and jump our way to spring! 

Word Play (45 minutes, ages 3-6) In this 45 minute class, students leap, prance and spin their way through the world of children’s literature. Using picture books, fairy tales and poetry, children are introduced to the fundamentals of creative movement and narrative dance. Whether they’re twirling down their own Purple Crayon path, pouncing at the Wild Rumpus, or dancing the alphabet, kids will love this interactive class that honors the reader, and storyteller, in all of us.

All Aboard!

There are 2 spots left in The Center’s Dance Around the World summer camp!

This summer, your child can dance around the world without boarding one plane. At The Center’s Dance Around the World summer program, kids will learn traditional and contemporary dance styles from across the globe. Each day will land us on a different continent, where we’ll explore the music, literature, art and cuisine from different countries. Be sure to pack a bathing suit!

  • Drop-off: 9:00 AM at The Center Dance Studio, 321 Main Street in Amherst, MA
  • Pick-up: 3:30 PM at The Center Dance Studio (4:30 PM late pick-up option available)

Pop-Up Perch & Swoop!

With a heat wave on the horizon, we’re all looking for ways to stay chilled-out and entertained.

On Monday, July 2nd, The Center Dance will host its first Pop-Up Perch & Swoop of the summer. And because weather forecasts predict record-breaking temps, this one will be FREE of charge. 

Join us from 10AM-12PM for an air-conditioned morning of art, stories, dance and PLAY! Designed for toddlers and their caregivers, Perch & Swoop offers the best of The Center’s Pre-K creative movement curriculum, bookended by arts and craft activities, a wholesome snack, and play time.

Recommended for toddlers 18 months – 4 years (but older siblings are welcome, too).
Register via email to reserve your spot! (We’ll cap it at 10 families, so don’t wait!). 

Over the course of July & August, The Center will hold at least 3 more Pop-Up Perch dates (with a COOL summer rate of just $20/class). Our plan is to schedule these for rainy and/or scorching days; to be notified in advance, follow our Facebook Page or request to be added to our Perch mailing list (email thecenterdanceschool@gmail.com).

Learn the ABC’s of Hip Hop!

Family Hip Hop (45 minutes, ages 4-7) Learn the ABC’s of hip hop! It’s a Saturday morning dance party for the whole family. Instructor Tiffany Joseph gets kids hoppin’ in a way that’s hip. Caregivers may watch from the sidelines, or join in on the dance floor!

Saturdays at 11-11:45 AM, June 30th-August 11th (no class July 7th).

Fairies & Folklore Summer Program!

Add some MAGIC to your child’s summer…

At our “Fairies & Folklore” summer dance program, kids will read classic fairy tales, write their own, and DANCE them all! We’ll build gnome homes, brew ambrosia, scribble spells, and maybe even meet some water nymphs at the town pool. Open to children entering grades 1-5. Spots are going fast – reserve yours now!
